Subsequently, with the Presidential Decree No. 9724 published in the Official Gazette on 17 April 2025, the name of the Faculty was changed, and it has since continued its educational, instructional, and scientific research activities under the name Teoman Duralı Faculty of Human and Social Sciences. The Department admitted its first students to both regular and evening undergraduate programs in the 2016–2017 academic year.
Our undergraduate Psychology program awarded its first degrees in the 2019–2020 academic year. In addition to compulsory courses in the four-year curriculum, a wide range of elective courses are offered in various subfields of psychology, including Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Sports Psychology, Forensic Psychology, and Applied Psychology. Electives such as Crisis Intervention, Social Influences on Behavior, Clinical Interviewing Skills, and Close Relationships enrich the curriculum.
Courses within the undergraduate Psychology program are conducted in alignment with the accreditation requirements and standards of the Turkish Psychological Association (TPD), and efforts toward accreditation are ongoing.
Our department consists of academic staff specializing in the areas of Applied Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Psychometrics, and Social Psychology. Faculty members actively engage in education, research, and community service, maintaining a dynamic, effective, and productive approach grounded in their academic expertise and experience.
A primary goal of the Psychology Department is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary for their professional and career development. The department emphasizes scientific and ethical approaches within the field, aiming to prepare graduates who will contribute positively to their country, society, and humanity with appropriate professional attitudes and values.
The department supports numerous student-focused activities that contribute to both professional development and psychological well-being. These include Erasmus exchange programs, student club events, cultural and artistic activities, workshops, social responsibility projects, educational seminars, and lectures. Within the Erasmus program for academic and internship mobility, an agreement is currently in place with South-West University Neofit Rilski in Bulgaria. Efforts are also underway to expand exchange opportunities through collaborations with higher education institutions in EU member states such as Austria, Germany, and Poland.
Through student clubs established or advised by faculty members, the department organizes scientific, artistic, social, and cultural events. In addition to supporting students’ scientific and professional development, these activities contribute to a learning environment where students acquire both professional expertise and domain-specific knowledge, as well as the professional attitudes required in the field of psychology through project-based and community-oriented initiatives.
