5th Psychology and Life Days attracted great interest!

The Psychology and Life Society, under the academic supervision of Yasemin Yeşilyaprak, Assistant Professor of our department, organized the 5th Psychology and Life Days this year with a great participation. The event, held on February 22-23, 2025, hosted a wide range of participants from academics to students.

On the first day of the program, Prof. Dr. Erdinç Öztürk made the opening speech. In his presentation titled “Dissoanalysis Theory: From Individual Traumas of Human Origin to Social Traumas of Human Origin”, he discussed the effects of dissociative processes and social traumas on human psychology. Then, Dr. Assist. Prof. Dr. Esin Temeloğlu Şen, “Journey to the Sky: The Effects of Space and Aviation on Human Psychology”, she evaluated the effects of space and aviation psychology on human psychology. Later in the day, Dr. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şahin Özden shared important information about post-traumatic healing processes in his speech titled “Trauma and Healing: The Use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in Trauma Treatment”.

Uzm. Psk. Özüm Seda Duran and Dr. Lecturer Duygu Akyüz presented theoretical and practical information about the “Psychodrama: Basic Concepts and Practices” presented theoretical and practical information on psychodrama technique.

On the second day, Uzm. Kli. Psk. Sena Tosun Çalıcıoğlu's “Erasing the Traces of Trauma: The Power and Effects of EMDR Therapy”. The speech, which addressed the place of EMDR therapy in trauma treatment, attracted great interest of the participants. On the second day of the event, Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Yasemin Yeşilyaprak, “Through the Looking Glass: Me and Others”, addressed important psychological processes regarding the way individuals perceive themselves and others. Uzm. Ps. Sinem Çıbaş Karlıklı, “Psychopathology and Criminal Behavior: How Does the Brain of Psychopaths Work?” examined the relationship between psychopathology and criminal behavior. The last speaker of the program, Dr. Assist. Prof. Dr. Büşra Eylem Aktaş presented “The Psychology of Moral Development: From Infancy to Adulthood”, she made a comprehensive evaluation on the stages of moral development and the psychological foundations of this process.

During the conferences, participants not only listened to theoretical information, but also had the opportunity to practice in the workshops organized. Uzm. Psk. Özüm Seda Duran and Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Duygu Akyüz, the workshop “Seeing and Being Seen, Understanding and Being Understood on the Psychodrama Stage” offered the participants the opportunity to experience the basic dynamics of psychodrama. Assist. Assist. Aylin Aydın focused on the effects of traumatic experiences on the thought systems of individuals, while Uzm. Psk. Sinem Çıbaş Karlıklı's “Facing a Psychopath: A Case Study Analysis” was quite remarkable for the participants interested in forensic psychology.

The event, which was very productive for the students and speakers, was welcomed with great satisfaction by the participants. The participants stated that the event offered different perspectives on psychology and was very satisfying academically. Organized for the fifth time this year, Psychology and Life Days will continue to bring psychology enthusiasts together in the coming years!
